Xiamen becomes national logistics hub

Xiamen in Southeast China's Fujian Province has been making great strides in the development of its aviation logistics industry in recent years, with its airport industry showing strong development momentum and showcasing remarkable achievements. 

Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport stands as a crucial regional aviation hub on the southeastern coast and is also a major domestic airport. It is connected to 128 airports in 124 cities worldwide, highlighting its pivotal position within the global air route network. 

With the implementation of supportive policies to accelerate the development of air cargo transportation, Xiamen has witnessed continuous increase in cargo throughput.  

In 2023, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport handled 314,000 metric tons of cargo, representing 20% growth year-on-year and ranking it 12th nationwide.  

From January to September, the city launched seven new international all-cargo routes to destinations including Paris, Atlanta and Dallas, achieving a cargo throughput of 272,000 tons. 

Xiamen now boasts a leading position in the national aviation maintenance industry, hosting nine internationally renowned specialized aviation maintenance enterprises such as Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Co Ltd and ST Engineering Aerospace Technologies (Xiamen) Co Ltd. What's more, the city has established the biggest one-stop aviation maintenance base in the country. 

With the operation of Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, the new airport is capable of handling 45 million passengers and 750,000 tons of cargo annually. It will help Xiamen, as an aviation hub, enhance its radiation capacity and air logistics carrying capacity, injecting new momentum into the city's development. 

Moving forwards, Xiamen shall make all-out efforts to advance its construction and operation as a national aviation logistics hub. 

The city will expand its aviation logistics service capabilities and boost the development level of the aviation industry in order to facilitate its transformation into a nexus city for the new development paradigm at a faster pace.
