Xiamen leads the way in service trade

The year's release of Black Myth: Wukong, a game based on Chinese mythology, has captured worldwide attention, putting the spotlight on international expansion efforts by China's gaming industry. Xiamen in Southeast China's Fujian Province has emerged as a pivotal force in this journey, with the nation's first gaming export platform insurance being initiated in the city. 

In February, the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce collaborated with the Xiamen branch of the China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation to establish a unified insurance platform for gaming exports. This platform introduced specialized insurance services tailored for gaming companies venturing into international markets. Notably, it provided up to $3 million in coverage for overseas accounts receivable for Xiamen Mechanist Technology Co., Ltd., a key player in China's cultural export sector. 

As a pilot city for comprehensive deepening of innovative development in service trade and a model city for China's service outsourcing, Xiamen boasts formidable capabilities in service trade. The city's gaming industry has been making remarkable strides in global outreach, with the emergence of a group of leading cultural service export enterprises. Thirteen gaming enterprises and three gaming projects have been selected as key national cultural export enterprises and projects for the period spanning 2023 to 2024. 

Tan Yukun, director of public relations at Mechanist Games, said, "There are various uncertainties in foreign markets, but the gaming export platform insurance effectively helps us mitigate certain risks." 

He emphasized that this insurance service also instills confidence and determination in gaming enterprises to explore new markets abroad, enabling them to navigate overseas marketing and promotional activities with greater ease and proficiency. 

The implementation of the first gaming export platform insurance not only bolsters the internationalization of China's gaming industry but also serves as a robust support for promoting Chinese culture. Currently, the rapid development of the unified insurance platform in Xiamen continues to offer comprehensive risk mitigation and financial services for the internationalization of Xiamen's gaming industry, elevating the international competitiveness of Xiamen's gaming export enterprises.
