Xiamen's trade with RCEP countries flourishes

Since the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) took effect three years ago, Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian Province, has witnessed a significant increase in economic and trade exchanges with other RCEP members.

Statistics from Xiamen Customs indicate that from January 2022 to the end of February 2025, the total import and export volume between Xiamen and RCEP members reached more than 1 trillion yuan ($138 billion), with exports amounting to 402.66 billion yuan. The continuous economic and trade growth has led to high-quality development in the regional economy.

Data reveals that since the inception of RCEP, Xiamen has exported 186.23 billion yuan worth of electromechanical products to other RCEP members, showing a 9% increase and accounting for 46.2% of Xiamen's total exports to RCEP members. During the same period, labor-intensive products worth 81.19 billion yuan were exported, constituting 20.2% of Xiamen's total exports to RCEP members.

The comprehensive implementation of the RCEP has strengthened trade cooperation between China and other RCEP members, delivering tangible benefits to enterprises.

Over the past three years, Xiamen Customs has issued over 370,000 preferential certificates of origin for goods exported by Xiamen companies to other RCEP members, with a total value exceeding 134.1 billion yuan. This has reduced the tariff burden on such companies by approximately 6.7 billion yuan in importing countries. Products include electromechanical products, clothing and footwear, and aluminum products.

To help Xiamen enterprises consolidate and expand their market presence in RCEP countries, Xiamen Customs has actively conducted promotional activities and guidance on preferential policies to help companies actively explore overseas markets.

In conjunction with the newly launched "China Customs Preferential Origin Service Platform", a comprehensive online and offline system has been established for cross-departmental, full-chain, cross-regional application of export certificates of origin, and a new digital certificate application model, known as "Smart and Fast Application", has been created to further facilitate customs clearance for goods.

These initiatives are helping companies go global and injecting fresh vitality into the business environment at Xiamen Port, enabling more "Made in China" products to access the global market.
