Chinese vice premier stresses deepening opening up, cooperation in services trade

BEIJING, Sept. 10 -- The Global Trade in Services Summit of the 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services was held in Beijing on Wednesday.

A congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping was read out at the summit by Yin Li, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.

Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and vice premier of the State Council, delivered a keynote speech at the summit.

Amid a notable rise in unilateralism and protectionism, China has steadily advanced institutional opening up in trade in services, which has provided strong momentum for its own development while also creating greater room for global economic growth, Ding noted.

China is willing to work with all countries and parties to strengthen opening up and cooperation in services trade, and promote growth in global trade and world economy, Ding said.

Ding made proposals on upholding high-standard opening up and reducing barriers to trade in services; pursuing all-around innovation and enhancing international cooperation in areas like artificial intelligence and big data; and adhering to the principle of mutual benefit and win-win results, working to promote the signing of more high-standard free trade agreements, and advancing common prosperity through mutually beneficial cooperation in services trade.

The summit attracted about 800 participants from home and abroad.

Ding and Yin also inspected the exhibition venues of the fair after the summit. Ding said that China will actively expand imports and exports of quality services and provide more development opportunities for both Chinese and foreign companies.
