UK-China investment collaboration spotlights at 25th CIFIT

The United Kingdom (UK)-China Investment Exchange Events Opening Ceremony and Invest in China Session were held on Sept 9 at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center.

The event served as a high-level platform for investment cooperation, bringing together government departments, financial institutions, professional service providers, and representatives from sectors such as life sciences, new energy, and intelligent manufacturing from both countries.

Peter Wilson CMG, UK's ambassador to China, said in the welcome remarks that the CIFIT is one of China's most important investment promotion events and plays an major role in strengthening global cooperation, providing many exciting opportunities for bilateral cooperation, which are expected to become new drivers of growth.

David Liao, co-chief executive for Asia and the Middle East at HSBC and a member of HSBC's Group Operating Committee, said in his speech that foreign investment in China remains strong. He emphasized that the country continues to be an attractive destination for global enterprises while also noting the increasing activity of Chinese companies investing abroad.

During a panel discussion themed "UK-China Financial Collaboration – Navigating Success and Future Growth", Mark Harrison, partner for deal advisory at KPMG, observed that the high-tech sector is generating a wide range of new products and services. He hopes to see more investment and merger in China, underlining that while market fluctuations exist, the overall outlook remains steady.

The UK session was held on Sept 9 at the same location aimed at providing Chinese investors with insights into the UK's current investment policies and market potential, while exploring opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in third-party markets.

The event has seen fruitful outcomes including the launch of the CCBC-CCPIT Xiamen Legal Service Workstation.
