CATL and Didi establish joint venture in Xiamen

On February 18th, CATL Xiaoju (Xiamen) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. was officially established in Xiamen, with a registered capital of 330 million yuan and shared ownership by CATL and Didi. The formation of CATL Xiaoju marks the realization of collaboration between the two companies in the battery-swapping sector.  

Leveraging their respective technological strengths and operational expertise, the joint venture will initially target ride-hailing scenarios, providing efficient battery-swapping services for numerous new energy vehicles. Battery swapping, a process where depleted electric vehicle batteries are replaced with fully charged ones at nearby swap stations, offers advantages over traditional charging, including reduced energy replenishment time, extended battery lifespan, enhanced safety, minimized grid impact, and alleviation of the shortage of charging infrastructure.
