Travel between Xiamen Airport and BRI countries exceeds 1M trips

The number of passengers traveling in 2025 between Xiamen Airport and BRI countries topped one million by June, 34 days faster than last year. Local officials attributed the growth in travel to Xiamen's status as a hub for the modern iteration of the Maritime Silk Road and its bridge role for travelers with roots in Fujian.

Xiamen Customs processed 12,700 inbound and outbound flights at Xiamen Airport in the first five months of the year, up 15 percent year-on-year. The flights included 1.7 million inbound and outbound passengers, up 14.62 percent year-on-year.

Officials added that the local Customs office continues to optimize clearance services for international passenger and cargo routes. Airlines offer a total of 41 international routes from Xiamen.
