During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), Xiamen has expanded its international cooperation space through high-level opening-up, enhancing its global connectivity in the service of national strategies. The five sessions of the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) held during this period attracted over 350,000 participants from 172 countries and regions and 35 international organizations, facilitating nearly 3,500 cooperation projects. The "Silk Road Maritime" initiative connects Xiamen with 150 ports through 148 designated routes, reaching 150 ports in 48 countries and regions, with an alliance of 367 members. "Silk Road Maritime" has developed into a new international shipping and logistics service brand and a significant flagship project for Fujian Province in advancing the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Xiamen handled 983 inbound aircraft for maintenance, generating industry revenue of 60.8 billion yuan (data as of November 2025). Xiamen Port's container throughput has exceeded 10 million TEUs for eight consecutive years, ranking 7th in China and 14th globally. The average vessel port time and berth time at Xiamen Port rank 2nd and 3rd in the world, respectively. Over 50 BRICS innovation cooperation projects have been cultivated and included in the project pool. The China-BRICS New Era Technology Innovation Incubation Park has established a collaborative network with 55 institutions from 11 countries, including Brazil and the UAE.
